Editorial Norms and Principles

The editorial staff of the European Journal of Psychoanalysis is guided in their activities by the following principles:

  • meeting the requirements of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and Berlin Declaration Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities;
  • holding to editorial independence;
  • giving priority to discussion and debate;
  • promotion and support for scientific conscientiousness and integrity;
  • satisfaction of scientific demands and interests of the Authors and Readers;
  • undertaking systematic work on improving the Journal;
  • guaranteeing the quality of published materials;
  • providing anonymity in the Author – Reviewer(s) relationships;
  • informing the Authors about the rules and requirements for publication;
  • providing freedom of expression to the Authors of papers;
  • monitoring respect for the intellectual property rights;
  • developing recommendations for the review of papers;
  • developing mechanisms for resolving the conflicting interests.

Interaction with Authors

In cooperation with the Authors, the Editorial board of the Journal is guided by the following rules:

  • accomplishes all measures necessary to ensure the quality of the submitted materials subject to subsequent publication;
  • ensures compliance with the established mechanisms for reviewing papers, as well as refuting or cancelling of decisions made by the Editorial board;
  • informs the Author either of the acceptance of his/her paper for publication, or of the need to revise it, or of its rejection;
  • giving of a reasoned and well-founded description of the expert assessment of the paper submitted for publication.

Interaction with Reviewers

In cooperation with the Reviewers, the Editorial board of the Journal is guided by the following rules:

  • provides the reviewers with recommendations for reviewing papers;
  • provides the reviewers with a system for checking the degree of paper originality;
  • guarantees confidentiality for the reviewer;
  • makes it possible to refuse peer review without explaining the reasons for the refusal;
  • considers peer review as an integral part of assessing the scientific publication that confirms the high quality of scientific papers.

Peer review involves working with the Reviewers who are acknowledged experts in the relevant field of knowledge. In order to get that done, the Editorial board, in addition to the members of the editorial staff, cooperates with a wide range of scientists from different countries.

Interaction with Readers

Any reader or prospective author may address the members of the Editorial board in order to clarify the incomprehensible professional issues relevant to the subject of the Journal by sending a message to the publisher’s e-mail: ejp_editor@ukr.net .
The Journal provides readers with high-quality materials in the context of intellectual, semantic and cultural-stylistic aspects.

Ethical compliance

The Editorial board of the European Journal of Psychoanalysis maintains the modern progressive level of requirements as to the selection and publication of scientific papers. These norms are determined by the quality standards of scientific papers, the subject matter of the Journal, as well as scientific directions adopted in the world scientific community.
The basic ethical requirements for scientific publications constitute the standards of conduct and professional obligation of members of the Editorial board in regard with both each other and the public, as well as ensuring the right of each Author to intellectual property. All persons involved in the process (editors, authors and reviewers) are guided by ethics principles in scientific publications. The Editorial board and Reviewers review all materials submitted for publication without any prejudice, properly assessing they each.
